DAVID WENHAM SET TO BE 'KILLING TIME' FOR TV1'S MOST
ANTICIPATED LOCAL CRIME DRAMA

One of Australia's most respected actors, David Wenham is set to play Andrew Fraser one of Australia's most disgraced lawyers in the compelling true crime 10 x 1 Hour drama Killing Time for TV1.

Australian born David Wenham is best known and awarded for his roles ranging from Moulin Rouge, Lord of the Rings – return of The King, Lord of the Rings – Two Towers, 300, Van Helsing, The Proposition and Australia.

David Wenham said: "A few times in my career I have been fortunate to read a script that is so well written, I can instantly hear the characters and easily imagine the world they inhabit. Killing Time is one of those rare occasions.

The story of Andrew Fraser, his rise and fall, his personal experience of both sides of the law is utterly compelling. The series is full of extraordinary characters involved in often extraordinary events. Not the least, Andrew Fraser, a charismatic and complex person that I am champing at the bit to portray. I have not been so excited to start a shoot in a long time, I am thrilled to be part of Killing Time for TV1."

"David is an outstanding actor, and the one we believed could become Andrew Fraser in this incredible true story.  He is highly credentialed and internationally awarded  and with him leading the cast will elevate Killing Time to an important place in Australian television history.

TV1 are proud to again provide our viewers with more quality original drama with our friends from Fremantle Media for exclusive Premiere on FOXTEL and AUSTAR." said Peter Hudson, CEO, TV1.

Killing Time   follows the story of Andrew Fraser's rise from small time lawyer to successfully defending the most infamous criminals this country has ever seen, and then his ultimate downfall and imprisonment for five years in maximum security.  His clients included Dennis Allen, Jimmy Krakouer, Alan Bond and those accused of the Walsh Street murders.

From the creators of the critically acclaimed The King, Killing Time gives a fascinating insight into the workings of the Australian justice system in a time of brutal upheaval and the war between the criminal class and a corrupt police force.  At the top of his game, Fraser commanded a huge salary and lived the dream.  But when his cocaine addiction spiralled into a thousand dollar-a-day habit, he lost everything and his life became intertwined with villains, larrikins and soldiers of justice.

He was disbarred, discredited, broken financially and his marriage was destroyed. Caged amongst serial killers and psychopaths, Fraser is forced to reflect on where it all went so wrong, and try to salvage his shattered reputation.

Ian David (Blue Murder, 3 Acts of Murder) heads the writing team which includes Mac Gudgeon (Last Ride, Halifax, Stingers) and Katherine Thompson (Satisfaction, Answered by Fire).

Killing Time is a FremantleMedia Australia production for TV1 led by Jason Stephens( Executive producer/Producer ) and John Wild (Producer).  Production on Killing Time is due to begin filming in Melbourne in April 2010 with production investment from Film Victoria.
